The word “best” was tossed around during our afternoon pit stop at Ziggy D’Amico’s - best happy hour, best chicken wings, best whiskey cocktails. Offering happy hour every day from 2-5pm and just down the road from us, Ziggy D’Amico’s may just become the perfect weekend afternoon spot with an exciting cocktail menu and delectable small plates.
The highlights of our afternoon: the “Old Spooney” - an old fashioned served a la 1930s, the “75 Smash” - a fruity sipper perfect for Florida afternoons, the “Rye Tai” - well, you guessed it, a mai tai with rye, and the “Room with a Vieux” - their take on New Orleans’ classic rye and cognac cocktail.
Oh, and those wings. We had to ask what the secret was. They are cooked confit (hours in fat) before being taken out to rest and then fried to order before being tossed in Ziggy’s dry rub. Sorry if we spilled the beans, but they were just too good not to share. We’ll be back for some smash burgers and pizza.
