The Silver King Ocean Brasserie

Fine dining classics and some creative desserts.

The Silver King Ocean Brasserie,” named after the mighty tarpon, was just a quick elevator ride down for us during our stay at the Luminary Hotel and featured a menu filled with fine dining classics and some creative desserts!

A delicious pull-apart loaf as part of their bread service came out right before the most picturesque Beef Tartare, pictured first. Our mains were as classic as could be, a medium-rare prime NY strip steak on a bed of mashed potatoes and a halibut atop a medley of snap peas, rainbow carrots and fingerling potatoes.

Now back to those inventive desserts! An Espresso Crème Brûlée, made with their espresso coffee roasted in house that makes us think all other crème brûlées should be served with coffee, and Smoked S’Mores, a deconstructed s’mores dish that comes to the table in a smoke-filled platter. The cloche is lifted and the familiar smell of campfire smoke fills the air in front of you as you get ready to scoop some bites of torched marshmallow fluff, chocolate chunks, graham cracked crumbs and vanilla ice cream.

And a nice touch that did not go unnoticed - a bottle of wine was handpicked just for us from their wine cellar after we ordered our entrees, and despite the challenge of pairing a wine with our meat and fish, the pinot noir they picked was spot on!
