The Local

A true farm- and sea- to-table experience.

Sometimes when a chef comes over to ask us how the food was, it can be a brief interaction with a few words of affirmation and head nods. But this lengthier than normal exchange with Chef Jeff Mitchell made us quickly realize why The Local is a favorite amongst so many of you. His passion for a true farm- and sea- to-table experience, the first of its kind in Naples, shines at The Local, as the chef was able to pinpoint exactly where the produce on our plate was sourced. Chef Jeff has added a monthly vegetarian dish wine pairing to his menu that invites not just those who shy away from meat to indulge on fresh, delicious plates paired with some unique wines!

The first of our December pairings was the chef’s fun take on the ever-so-popular mozzarella sticks appetizer. The Local stuffs squash blossoms with their house-made ricotta, parmesan and parsley, and fries them up until they’re perfectly golden brown and delicious, served with their spicy marinara sauce. The fried squash blossoms are paired with the bright and light Bico da Ran albariño wine. The 2nd pairing was a rich and creamy vegan mushroom risotto, paired with the equally bold Argyle pinot noir. How chef can make this risotto so creamy and keep it vegan will remain a mystery to us!

Their menu is extensive and has a little bit of everything for everyone, including those who prefer a perfectly cooked pork tenderloin or Delmonico steak, or even some pizza and pasta (all homemade, duh!), making this a great option for the whole family.
